M.A. Program Admission Criteria

Prospective M.A. students should have at least four (4) courses in women's studies or closely related fields; a major, minor or certificate in Women's Studies is recommended.

Successful applicants to the Women's Studies M.A. program have had GPAs of 3.4 or higher. The GRE General Test is recommended for all applicants and required for those seeking fellowships; there is no minimum GRE score.

Applicants are judged on the basis of letters of recommendation, statements of interest, GPA and written work, and GRE/TOEFL scores.

Please note that admission to the Women's Studies M.A. Program at OSU is very competitive. We admit approximately 15% of applications received; generally 8-10 new M.A. students each year. Experience has shown that the best predictors of success in our program are the Women's Studies course requirements and the undergraduate GPA. We highly recommend that students who do not have this background acquire it before applying.
