Undergraduate and Graduate Writing Awards
The following information describes the criteria and deadlines for the Undergraduate and Graduate Writing Awards sponsored by the Department of Women's Studies.The Robin Wiehm Award
The Robin Wiehm Award was named posthumously for one of the first women's studies students at Ohio State. It is presented annually for the outstanding undergraduate paper written for a women's studies class.Eligibility
Undergraduate students enrolled in Women's Studies classes or approved electives at The Ohio State University are encouraged to submit papers written from Spring Quarter 2007 through Winter Quarter 2008.Award
One undergraduate author will be presented with a $75 gift certificate.To Apply
- Papers should be no more than 12 pages, typed and double-spaced. Papers may be edited for submission.
- Papers should have a title page; all other identifying information should be eliminated from the text.
- Submit three copies of the paper to the Department of Women's Studies, 286 University Hall, 230 North Oval Mall, Columbus OH 43210-1311.
- Each student may submit only one paper. The same paper may not be submitted for other awards.

Applications now being accepted.Common Differences Award
The Common Differences awards are given by the Department of Women's Studies for the best student papers written about the perspectives, experiences, and contributions of women of color. Topics from a wide variety of areas are welcome, including the arts, literature, history, politics, economics, health, psychology, cultural studies, and race relations.The paper may focus on women of color in the United States, including Black, Hispanic, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander women, or women of color in other parts of the world.
Both graduate and undergraduate students in any discipline at the Ohio State University are encouraged to submit papers for Common Differences. One graduate and one undergraduate award will be given.

The Joellen Thomas Award is named posthumously for a 1998 graduate of the Women's Studies MA program. It is presented annually for the outstanding undergraduate or graduate paper about women and illness or women and disability written for a women's studies class or an approved elective.Eligibility
